Casa Marron
Building work on Casa Marron started in 2006 and was completed in 2008. Accomodation is in two buildings seperated by a wooden walkway and a covered dining area; the four double bedrooms are all en-suite. The sitting room and all the bedrooms are heated and air-conditioned.
Casa Marron is situated at one end of 2,600 square metres of land; the remainder is being planted as an orchard garden but is very much a work in progress. There are many established Olive and Almond trees and newly planted, lemon, plum, pomegranate and figs.
The Course.
Robin and Jean, your hosts, ran a successful function catering business for many years and their Spanish dream is to host watercolour painting courses for beginners, providing a country house party atomosphere for their guests, with good food and hospitality. Daily tuition, both in the studio and on field trips, is with Robin, an enthusiastic amateur water colourist, with an input by local artists on field trips.
Your one week holiday will start when you are collected from the airport, (if your flight is delayed, your hosts will know and will be there when you arrive).
You'll be driven to Casa Marron, where lunch, dinner or a light supper, whichever is appropriate, will be waiting.
After a good nights sleep, in your air-conditioned en-suite room and a hearty breakfast, you'll have your first painting lesson in the studio.
In these lessons each morning, you'll learn and practice, in a group of six or less, the techniques and skills that you'll need throughout your future journey as a water colourist.
Every day after the lesson in the studio you'll be taken for the rest of the day on a field trip, still with instruction, where you'll draw and paint in the open air. Each day you'll be drawing and painting different subjects and practicing different skills. So that by the end of the week you'll have the knowledge to practice and refine all the tools you'll need to develop as a painter.
One field trip will be near to the resort of Mojacar, where students have the option of an afternoon on the beach or in the shops and bars. Robin will carry on with the field trip and if he finds himself alone he might just do some painting by himself.
Meals
The Centre is Robin and Jean's home and students and hosts live and eat together during the course.
Breakfast. A full English breakfast will be served each morning, together with toast, preserves, cheese, fruit and fruit juices.
Lunch. One of the criteria for selecting the sites for your field trips is the access to a bar or restaurant where refreshments will be available, chargeable to your hosts.
Dinner. Your hosts will provide and share an international cuisine 3 course dinner. Part of each main course will be plain food for those students with simple tastes.
Students who are vegetarian or who have other special dietary requirements must discuss their needs with the hosts prior to making their booking.
Smoking is not permitted in or close to any of the buildings at the centre. Smoking in the grounds of the centre must be well away from other students.
